A Stitch In Time

This is not MY arm.

It's the arm of someone very near and dear to me.

Where those stitches are now there was a dirty, big brown mark.

I nagged at this person to have it checked out for months and months - and after much faffing about they finally did.

Since this picture was taken, a diagnosis of malignant melanoma stage two has come through.

That wound is now much deeper and longer because the doctor had to make sure they had it all.

There are also some other tests that have to be done as well but hopefully, that will be the end of it.

This person is mature enough to remember the days when we sunbathed with baby oil on, so we'd get a great tan.

There were no "Slip, Slop, Slap" messages when they were a child and even though they have been very careful for 25 years, this little monster slipped through.

You think it won't happen to you, but there's a bloody good chance it will.

Please be careful and get regular checks.
